Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar was established in the year 2008 with IIT Kharagpur as its mentor Institute. It is located in the city of Bhubaneswar which is the capital of the Indian state of Odisha and spreads across an area of 936 acres with 30000 sq.m dedicated for academic purposes and 12500 sq.m area for residential and other uses. IIT Bhubaneswar currently has 7 school departments of study which offer programmes at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels of study including Bachelor of Technology, Master of technology, Dual degree (B.Tech+M.Tech) programme, Master of Science and Ph.D programmes. IIT Bhubaneswar is well-reputed as an “Institute of National Importance” with a student strength of 2112 supported by an esteemed faculty strength of 144.
